Sterling Engineering/Staffing is currently looking for an Associate Drafter for one of our clients on a Remote basis. Sterling has a rich history of delivering top talent to our clients. We are a nationwide Staffing Firm with over 100 clients and works primarily with Fortune 1000 corporations.

Hourly Rate

$17-29/hr

Job Description

The Associate Drafter or Drafter supports natural gas infrastructure projects by producing accurate technical drawings, applying markups, and adhering to drafting standards. This role builds and applies foundational AutoCAD skills, contributes to plan development, and ensures timely, high-quality deliverables while collaborating with engineering teams and demonstrating Company Core Values.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Address plan markups with guidance from experienced drafters and engineers
  • Review drafting standards and project specifications to understand gas design requirements
  • Perform back checks to identify recurring comments and reinforce drafting best practices
  • Learn how changes on one sheet affect other sheets within a plan set
  • Participate in project scope reviews with support from the drafting and engineering teams
  • Build foundational AutoCAD skills, including symbology, terminology, and tool palettes
  • Gain exposure to regulatory agencies, utility owners, and permitting processes
  • Complete drafting assignments on time and within allocated hours
  • Support project and team success through additional assigned tasks
Education and Training
  • High school diploma or equivalent
Qualifications and Experience
  • No prior CAD experience required
  • Currently enrolled in or completed a CAD certificate or degree program
  • Interpret and apply markups and revisions to reflect design intent across plan sets
  • Set up and annotate plan sets according to project standards and client specifications
  • Trace existing data and develop base maps to support detailed project designs
  • Understands safety concerns and required PPE
  • Novice understanding of CAD (i.e., symbology, terminology, tool palettes)
  • Familiarity with MS Office Suite
  • Familiarity with CAD software (AutoCAD)
