Overview
The Senior / Lead Estimator will be responsible for leading Construction Design-Build and EPC estimates and proposals for a diverse portfolio of project types and clients. We are seeking a hybrid estimator with experience in both earthwork/environmental remediation and water/wastewater construction. In this client-facing role the estimator develops and prices conceptual estimates to aid clients in making fact‑based decisions, presents accurate estimates in a credible and professional manner, and minimizes risk to the company.
Responsibilities- Lead estimating strategy and implementation efforts.
- Review and approve project summary schedules for validity.
- Manage workload scheduling to ensure timely completion of deliverables.
- Lead risk review process.
- Ensure compliance with estimating methodology to produce quality estimates.
- Lead project team review for estimating quantities and scope of project.
- Review and approve quotes on bonds and insurance.
- Review and approve small and disadvantaged business solicitation and evaluations.
- Lead subcontractor solicitation and pre‑qualification reviews.
- Review and approve specialty and standard equipment pricing.
- Verify subcontractor bid packages before transmission for quotes.
- Present the estimate to internal and external clients.
- Review final estimate before management review and proposal presentation.
- Lead estimating teams for completion of pre‑construction services.
- Maintain cost history, database management and estimating process.
- Approve price general conditions, indirect costs and review as provided by project management team.
- Make final recommendations on fee, contingency and escalation.
- Provide man‑hour quotes for required estimating effort.
- Develop strategy on contract partnering agreements.
- Prepare and present estimating data for risk review process.
- Verify and approve estimates for joint venture reviews.
- Review commercial terms and conditions and address risk issues.
- Validate value engineering items, alternates and options.
- Ensure accuracy and validity of estimate clarifications and assumptions.
- Review documents for gaps and overlaps in scope of work.
- Train and mentor staff.
- Maintain OSHA 10‑hour certification.
- Become proficient with InEight estimating software.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related field, and 7 years of direct project estimating experience required. Applicable experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.
- Ability to work independently or in groups, think creatively and analytically, and make quick and sound decisions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Expert with Microsoft Office, Con Est and K-base.
- InEight experience preferred.
- OSHA 10‑hour certification required.
$– yearly. The expected compensation range is displayed in compliance with all local/state regulations. The total annual compensation package will consist of a base salary and eligibility to participate in our discretionary year‑end incentive bonus program.
