Mechanical Design Engineer

Southwest Chicago (Onsite Daily) 60638, Bedford Park

I am looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join a team, supporting equipment design, fabrication, and plant-level engineering projects. This is a hands-on, onsite role working closely with fabrication, controls, electrical engineering, and production teams to design and modify mechanical systems supporting manufacturing operations.

• Develop 3D models and fabrication drawings using Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD
• Design mechanical assemblies, layouts, and detailed drawings using ANSI standards
• Support projects by gathering technical requirements including:
• Dimensions
• Equipment capabilities
• Pricing inputs
• Electrical and pneumatic needs
• Collaborate with fabrication shop, controls engineers, electrical engineers, and production supervision
• Revise and update drawings based on engineering notes, redlines, and field conditions
• Support multiple concurrent projects in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

• BS in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Packaging Engineering or Associate’s degree in Drafting, Design, or Engineering
• 4+ years in Mechanical Design or similar engineering role
• Hands on professional experience with Autodesk Inventor (2023+ or equivalent), Autodesk AutoCAD (2023+ or equivalent) and Autodesk Vault
• Experience with Microsoft Office 365
• Exposure to ERP / MRP system
• Packaging or industrial machinery (wrapping, bagging, conveyors, robotic equipment)
• Manufacturing or plant equipment (material handling, pumps, extruders, heat exchangers)
• Experience working with machine shops (mills, lathes, welders, presses)
• Ability to take field measurements using standard tools
• Familiarity with food manufacturing environments, GMPs, and OSHA standards
