OverviewAs a Distribution Planning Engineer focused on DER integration, you will evaluate, enable, and manage the safe and reliable interconnection of DER across the power distribution system. You will perform hosting capacity, protection, power flow, and voltage studies to assess DER impacts, identify system constraints, and recommend effective mitigation strategies. As a technical lead, you will oversee the quality and accuracy of modeling, study assumptions, and engineering deliverables across DER projects.
You will collaborate closely with transmission, substation, distribution design, and SCADA automation teams to ensure seamless integration and efficiency. In this role, you will manage project schedules, develop processes, coordinate cross‑functional inputs, and ensure key milestones are met while mentoring less experienced engineers.

- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in electric utility planning.
- Proficiency in at least one of the following: CYME, Synergi, or ASPEN Power Flow.
- Ability to travel up to 5% as required to support clients and projects.
- FE/EIT required.
- Experience with large‑scale DER studies (1 MW‑10 MW) including feasibility studies, system impact studies, energy storage, and cluster studies.
- PE preferred.
- Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Knowledge of software automation and scripting.
- Understanding of 8760 simulations in LoadSEER or a similar software.
- This position pays between $100,000 to $120,000 (dependent on experience) annually and is an exempt position.
