Aviation Technology Associates (AVTECH) is looking for an Aircraft Line Support Engineer (ESC, AOG).
- Chicago, IL (ORD)
This position starts in March 2026 and lasts through October 2026.
Position PurposeLiaison engineering supporting aircraft line maintenance operations.
Principle Duties and ResponsibilitiesEssential Functions:
- Providing technical dispositions (via Engineering Authorizations) and guidance for aircraft issues that exceed published limits for structural damage including sheet metal and composite repairs. This often includes performing a structural analysis.
- Providing work deviation authorization, interpretation of service documents & Engineering Orders.
- Providing options for repairing versus replacing a part to minimize financial impact.
- Providing aircraft system trouble shooting assistance to Line Maintenance.
- Attending daily production meeting and pre-induction meeting to ensure timely support.
- Coordinating events/issues with Engineering Fleet Groups for additional action, troubleshooting and follow‑up.
- Monitoring trends and recurring discrepancies requiring corrective action. Developing Typical Repairs and manual supplement to eliminate repetitive BA requests.
Education and Experience Requirements
- BS Degree (or higher) in Aeronautical, Aerospace, Mechanical, or Structural Engineering.
- Two plus (2+) years in a specific technical discipline.
- Ability to perform structural analysis to substantiate repairs.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong investigative, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
- Self‑motivated, conscientious and ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Knowledge of FARs, FAA policies, and vendor manual (AMM, IPC, CMM).
- Must be willing to work a flexible work schedule to meet internal customer's needs.
- Aircraft/airline/MRO or aviation engineering experience desired.
- Typical shift is Tuesday through the following Monday.
- 10 hours a day (with additional 5 hours of pay on either end to cover travel).
- 7 on/7 off rotation (no relocation requirement).
- Travel costs covered (i.e., flights, hotel, rental car, etc.).
This is a W-2 hourly position. The estimated pay rate is $87.00 per hour.
