The Mechanical Systems Engineer is responsible for supporting the Senior Director of Engineering in all technical aspects of the Chicago district cooling system including system operation, optimization & expansion, project development, budgeting & management, new customer analysis, and customer site reliability.

The successful candidate will have a minimum of five years’ experience, and is expected to bring a structured, collaborative, detail‑oriented and proactive approach. The ideal candidate must have a willingness to learn, drive to continuously improve, and is team‑centric with strong integrity.

• Monitoring, troubleshooting, and repair of customer energy transfer station sensors, equipment and control systems
• Designing, planning, budgeting, and managing customer energy transfer station refurbishment projects
• Assist in designing, planning, budgeting, and managing new construction projects
• Provide technical support for business development initiatives including project feasibility, technology assessment and budgeting
• Interface with customers on technical issues
• Provide operating summaries and reports of plants and customer sites
• Assist with metered data assessments in support of billing, performance analysis, and forecasting
• Interface with local agencies for permitting and regulatory compliance
• Assist with distribution system street work planning and management
• Other technical/engineering activities that may be identified to aid in reaching company goals

• Mechanical systems experience is essential
• Process and power systems experience highly desirable
• Civil and structural experience is desirable
