Overview
Senior Facility Engineer (PE) - Oil & Gas / Energy Infrastructure
Compensation: $120,000 - $145,000 (DOE)
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Facility Engineer to join our growing team. In this role, you will lead engineering and design efforts for complex energy infrastructure projects—including gas compression, LNG, RNG, liquid pump stations, pipelines, and processing facilities. The ideal candidate is a licensed Professional Engineer with strong technical depth, proven leadership ability, and experience delivering high-quality engineering solutions to clients.
Responsibilities- Engineering & Design
- Develop project specifications, design calculations, drawings, and technical documentation.
- Lead engineering design for:
- Gas compression facilities
- LNG and RNG facilities
- Liquid pump stations
- Gas processing and dehydration systems
- Heaters, filter separators, pipelines, metering facilities, and slug catchers
- Perform and/or review pipe sizing, valve sizing, hydraulic calculations, hydrostatic test design, compressor and pump design, and other discipline-specific calculations.
- Specify materials and equipment, prepare data sheets, and write detailed equipment specifications.
- Review vendor drawings to ensure alignment with specifications, codes, and project requirements.
- Project Leadership
- Develop project objectives, estimates, and scopes by reviewing client requirements and coordinating with Program and Project Managers.
- Lead procurement efforts: prepare scopes of work, evaluate vendor bids, and provide award recommendations.
- Control project plans by reviewing design documents, tracking status reports, and recommending corrective actions to ensure schedule and budget compliance.
- Support development of man‑hour estimates, proposals, and full installed cost estimates.
- Lead multi‑discipline engineering teams and coordinate with contractors and client stakeholders.
- Conduct field engineering activities and lead on‑site meetings.
- Technical Expertise & Mentorship
- Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in one or more engineering areas; develop expertise in additional specialty areas.
- Mentor and supervise engineering staff; assign tasks and oversee quality of work.
- Deliver internal training presentations to expand organizational knowledge.
- Evaluate engineering methodologies, tools, processes, and technologies for continuous improvement.
- Present research findings, solutions, and recommendations to leadership.
- Communicate complex technical information clearly and effectively.
- Compliance & Professional Conduct
- Ensure adherence to industry codes, regulations, safety standards, and company/client requirements.
- Interact professionally with clients, vendors, and regulatory agencies.
- Demonstrate strong judgment while independently applying standard engineering techniques.
- Interpret and redline drawings—including PFDs, P&IDs, site plans—and coordinate with design/drafting teams to progress drawing packages.
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline (BSME).
- Valid Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Minimum 7 years of professional engineering experience
, including 5 years in the oil & gas or utility industry
. - 5+ years' experience with turbo machinery (compressors, turbines).
- Strong knowledge of:
- Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs)
- Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
- General arrangement drawings, BOMs, isometric fabrication drawings
- Familiarity with industry codes and standards including ASME/ANSI/API/NFPA/CSA

- 49 CFR 192 & 195
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
