As a Complex Bridge Engineer on our Minnesota team, you’ll work on complex bridge and transportation structure design projects, with bridge types including segmental post-tensioned, steel-box girders, cable-stayed, arches and trusses. Projects may involve design-bid-build and design-build, with opportunities to work remotely and on a flexible schedule.
You will coordinate design activities and meetings between Jacobs staff and subcontractors, perform quality reviews, and prepare budgets and schedules for bridge design tasks. You will also mentor junior engineers and CAD staff and have the opportunity to grow Jacobs’ project portfolio in the region. The final candidate could be located in Chicago, IL or Mendota Heights, MN.
Responsibilities- Coordinate design activities and meetings between Jacobs staff and subcontractors
- Perform quality reviews and prepare budgets and schedules for bridge design tasks
- Mentor, train, and direct junior engineers and CAD staff
- Contribute to growing the region’s portfolio of bridge projects
- Collaborate on projects that may involve design-bid-build or design-build
- Engage with National Complex bridge practice on projects across the US and overseas
- Master of Science in Civil Engineering
- Professional Engineer (PE) in IL and/or MN
- A minimum of 10 years of bridge design experience with a background in steel girder design, prestressed concrete design, and earth retaining structure design
- Previous complex bridge experience
- Experience with Chicago DOT, CTA and/or IDOT (MnDOT experience is a plus)
- Thorough knowledge of AASHTO LRFD design code
- Proficiency in Midas, Leap Bridge Concrete, and similar analysis/design software
- Self-motivated with the ability to work autonomously and direct the work of others
- Project management or task management experience
- Excellent focus on client service
- Experience supporting proposal development
- Design-Build project experience
- Project management experience
- Business development experience
- Experience leading proposal development
- Mentorship experience
The base pay range for this position is $/yr - $/yr. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and other factors including job-related skills, experience, and education or training.
