Mechanical Engineer II

This position works out of our Abbott Park, Illinois location in the TM Transfusion Division (TM). Required:

Associate Degree, 3 years of experience. Preferred, Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, 5 years of mechanical engineering experience, Experience designing and implementing complex projects on an accelerated timeline.

Experience in a multitude of manufacturing processes using metals, plastics, adhesives, and silicones; 2 or more years of Solid Works experience or equivalent mastery through education or similar 3D CAD software.

Strong analytical skills, excellent attention to detail, and be able to work closely with electrical, firmware, and software engineers as an interdisciplinary team.

Strong writing and verbal communication skills and can present design reviews for other engineers.

The position is with the R&D group

• Relocation candidates are acceptable, but local candidates are preferred
• Positions are 100% onsite
• Solidworks 2021 – Create and release drawings; position is 80‑90% drafting
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes; knowledge of tolerances of mechanical parts
• Medical device experience is not required

• Initial screening call
• Panel interview, preferably onsite if possible

• Understands design of high precision mechanical parts and sheet metal parts
• Has experience in 3D modeling and creating drawings using GD&T
• Has a solid understanding of GD&T from a design perspective and how datums relate functionally to mating parts
