Water Treatment Chemical Service Technician – Chicago, Illinois

As a Chemical Service Technician, you will support sales by maintaining the existing customer base in the greater Chicago area. You will perform water treatment tests at existing customers’ sites and work remotely from home while training alongside veteran Territory Managers. The eventual career path is to train into a Territory Manager position, which offers unlimited commission and a year‑end bonus.

You will receive an industry competitive salary and benefits, a $675 per month car allowance, and expenses. First‑year base pay ranges from $65,000 to $80,000 based on experience. Paperwork is minimal and compensation is based on performance and experience.

• Solve customers’ water problems.
• Treat industrial boilers and cooling towers to keep them energy efficient and environmentally friendly.
• Perform detailed water testing and analyses at industrial sites such as food processing plants, hospitals, manufacturing plants, commercial buildings, and data centers.
• Help sell Garratt-Callahan’s proprietary chemical blends, equipment, and monitoring technology.
• Perform passivation of stainless steel in industrial water treatment systems.
• Support sales of corrosion & scale inhibitors, coagulants, flocculants, biocides, bio‑augmentation, feed & monitoring equipment, water management plans, and reverse osmosis products.
• Promote Water Safety Programs.
• Maintain existing customer satisfaction.
• Aspire to bring on new industrial customers.

You must hold a 4‑year science degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biology, Mechanical Engineering, Paper Science, Water Resources, or a related technical discipline and be a capable chemist.

One year of technical sales experience or an internship related to water treatment chemicals is preferred; we are willing to train and mentor. Outside industrial sales experience is a plus.

You must live in the greater Chicago area and be familiar with the industrial marketplace of Illinois.
