Transmission Line Designer Grid

Overview

This position offers the opportunity to utilize and expand design skills within a multi-disciplinary team environment with Electrical and Structural designers and/or engineers in the development of transmission/distribution line drawings and designs. The role includes hands-on training in 3D design software environments such as AutoCAD 3D and/or Micro Station.

• Develop transmission line plans and profile drawings, line hardware details, material lists, and grounding details.
• Create master sketches to scale showing the relationship of proposed installations to existing facilities with exact specifications and dimensions. Confer with engineering staff to interpret input from sources such as engineering specifications, weight and volume calculations, and stress factors.
• Possibly accompany and assist project team members on site walkdowns at client facilities to gather information for design projects.
• Interface with vendors and construction contractors, explaining drawings to support appropriate design adjustments.

Essential Skills And Experience

• Associate’s Degree in drafting, or a high school diploma with 1+ years of drafting coursework or equivalent technical experience.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD.
• 5+ years of experience in design of transmission lines, including experience with PLS-CADD.
• Knowledge of techniques, tools, and principles for producing technical plans, drawings, and models.
• Understanding of engineering science and technology to relate equipment to technical design.
• Ability to visualize parts in 3D without computer aid.
• Ability to multi-task across projects.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Attention to detail.

Valued But Not Required Skills And Experience

• Experience using Micro Station, AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or GIS software.

Compensation

Salary range: $58,930.00 – $87,460.00
