Civil Design Engineer (Transportation)
Chicago, IL | Flexible Hybrid Schedule
A well-established, multidisciplinary engineering and design firm is seeking a Civil Design Engineer (Transportation) to join its growing Civil Engineering team in the Chicago market. This role is ideal for a motivated, self-driven engineer who enjoys technical design work, takes initiative, and wants exposure to impactful transportation and roadway projects.
Key Responsibilities
The selected engineer will support the planning, design, and delivery of transportation and roadway projects for public sector clients. Responsibilities include preparing design plans and construction documents, assisting with roadway geometry, grading, drainage, and utility coordination, and supporting projects through multiple phases from concept through construction. You will collaborate closely with project managers and senior engineers while working within applicable agency standards and municipal requirements.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
• 1 to 5 years of experience focused on transportation or roadway design
• Working knowledge of IDOT, CDOT, Illinois Tollway, and municipal standards
• Proficiency with Micro Station, including CONNECT Edition
• Experience with Open Roads Designer strongly preferred
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
• EIT certification preferred but not required
