Controls Engineer

The controls engineer will join the team to support ongoing critical projects within the facility. These projects address supplier rejections caused by manufacturing issues that arise during production. These issues can involve tooling, final inspection, or overall product quality.
Key Areas of Responsibility- Support production in reducing or eliminating equipment and tooling downtime or scrap, utilizing strong analytical methodologies.
- Responsible for controls systems design, specification, programming, simulation and testing, and start-up assistance.
- Improve efficiencies through process changes, automation, etc.
- Program automated equipment to meet production requirements.
- Design and quote electronic controls required to aid in production processes.
- Receive quotes and recommend sources for controls devices.
- Facilitate and maintain process controls equipment.
- Develop and design plant and process improvements (layout, equipment, process, ergonomics).
- Identify key process controls/systems and provide appropriate resources to maintain them.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable government safety and environmental standards.
- Advise maintenance technicians.
- Document all activities as required.
- Adhere to all company guidelines for emergency evacuation to ensure employee safety.
- Perform any additional responsibilities deemed necessary by management.
PLC programming, Allen-Bradley, robotics, Allen-Bradley PLC, RSLogix, electrical engineering, automation, schematic.
AdditionalSkills & Qualifications Basic Education, Experience, and Skills Required
- Proven experience in PLC logic and programming with any of the following:
Allen-Bradley, Modicon, GE Fanuc, Siemens, Automation Direct, Mitsubishi, Omron, Aromat, Toshiba. - HMI or SCADA programming and configuration using software such as Wonderware, Rockwell, Intellution, GE Cimplicity, Ci-Tech, Iconics, Siemens, US Data, etc.
- Minimum 2-year college education and 1 year of related experience in controls and assembly operations, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong mechanical and electrical skills.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication abilities.
- Strong interpersonal skills and written/verbal communication.
- Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Panel design and layout, wiring schematic capabilities.
- Blueprint reading experience.
- Knowledge of conveyor systems.
B shift, Tuesday–Friday, 6 PM to 6 AM

Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chicago, IL.
Pay And BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $50.00 - $53.00/hr.
