Transmission Planning Manager – S&L Consulting
Position at Sargent & Lundy
Responsibilities- Manage different consulting engagements related to power system studies for transmission interconnection projects, including external coordination with clients and internal coordination.
- Provide guidance and oversight to junior engineers performing power system modeling and analysis.
- Participate in business development including identification of new work, preparation of proposals, and provide input for project scope, approach, schedule, and budget.
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of industry technology and applications of new technologies.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and sufficient industry experience is considered in lieu of an advanced degree.
- A minimum of 12 years relevant engineering experience with at least 5 years of experience leading a team of power systems engineers.
- Experience in load flow and contingency analysis to identify transmission thermal and voltage constraints and transfer capability limits.
- Experience using transmission planning software for load flow modeling, contingency analysis, and stability analysis using PSS/E, PSLF, and TARA.

Valued But Not Required Skills & Experience- Master’s or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering is preferred.
- Experience in stability analysis to identify critical clearing times, voltage constraints, and analyze power system damping.
- Experience in electromagnetic transient analysis using PSCAD.
- Experience in short‑circuit analysis and using software programs CAPE or ASPEN.
- Knowledge of power regions and ISOs/RTOs, such as PJM, MISO, NYISO, ERCOT, SPP, CAISO, WECC, SERC, ISO‑NE.
- Experience in Python, JavaScript, or other scripting languages.
