Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc. (SGA) is searching for a Mechanical Engineering Analyst for a CONTRACT-TO-HIRE assignment with one of our premier Management Consulting clients in Chicago, IL.
Responsibilities- Evaluate and drive client growth and sustainability opportunities.
- Guide the creation of clients’ current and future portfolio and drive productivity and innovation across engineering, procurement, and product management.
- Work in teams of 2‑3 analysts, often collocated at client sites with other consultants.
- Collaborate closely with client stakeholders to establish buy‑in and grow client capabilities.
- Own individual work and create impact as an individual.
- Drive reverse engineering of products and services, determine critical product or material specifications and feature/attribute comparisons, and model product cost for design and procurement outcomes.
- Gain exposure across several industries:
- Consumer electronics
- Automotive
- Aerospace
- Global energy and materials
- Light/heavy industrial
- Medical
- 2+ years of mechanical design and manufacturing experience in roles such as R&D, testing, prototyping, and systems integration.
- Knowledge and experience in mechanical system and component design.
- Familiarity with CAD and simulation tools such as Solid Works.
- Proficient communicator capable of working in multinational environments; self‑motivated and proactive.
- Willingness or ability to travel to co‑locate with cross‑functional teams and clients.
- Ability to contribute individually or as part of a collaborative team, comfortable working autonomously with minimal direction when needed.
- Experience initiating projects, managing multiple priorities, and working effectively in ambiguous or fast‑changing environments.
- Highly organized and detail‑oriented individual.
- Excellent presentation skills, able to clearly communicate complex mechanical concepts and design rationale.
- Creative and strategic thinker with strong analytical abilities for interpreting and synthesizing technical data.
- NCEES certificate in the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) or Professional Engineer (PE) licensure in mechanical engineering preferred.
- A bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or an analogous technical degree required; top programs preferred (MIT, Stanford, UC Berkeley, Caltech, and Georgia Tech).
- Strong record of academic performance; minimum GPA = 3.4.
