We are now looking for a Fiber Solution Designer to join our team in Chicago.

As Fiber Solution Designer, you will play a key role in bridging the gap between packaging design and highly efficient production h deep expertise in corrugated packaging design and strong knowledge of corrugated conversion processes, you will ensure that all design concepts are optimized for manufacturability, cost efficiency, and assembly. You will be responsible for reviewing, optimizing, and approving existing designs, as well as developing new fiber-based packaging concepts when required.

You will contribute to Nefab by ensuring that packaging solutions are designed for efficient manufacturing and assembly across Nefab’s regional conversion and production capabilities, strengthening Nefab’s position as a leader in fiber-based packaging solutions.

You will be part of a cross‑functional setup, working closely with Technical Account Managers, local designers, Sales teams, Fiber Kitting Process Engineers, Sourcing, and Operations. In this role, you will be involved early in the concept development phase to understand customer needs and ensure all designs meet customer requirements while being optimized for large‑scale production and assembly.

This position is located in Chicago, IL, and you will report to the Director of Fiber Solutions.

Packaging and Containers Manufacturing

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Design Engineering, Process Engineering, or Operational Engineering. Strong emphasis on corrugated design for inner and outer packaging and corrugated conversion processes.

Experience: High-level experience in concept-to-design-to-manufacture for fiber-based inner and outer packaging solutions. 8–10 years of working experience within the corrugated industry, including design, process engineering, production, and assembly ong understanding of corrugated materials, conversion processes, and assembly methods. Hands‑on experience with corrugated converting machines and production constraints.

• Ability to review, optimize, and approve fiber packaging designs for manufacturability
• Strong collaboration skills with Sales, TAMs, designers, sourcing, and operations teams
• Capability to fine‑tune designs for cost‑effective manufacturing and efficient assembly
• Experience evaluating designs against machine capabilities (e.g., flexo, die‑cutter, folder‑gluer) and supplier constraints
• Ability to support prototyping, sample creation, and validation testing
• Experience contributing to continuous improvement initiatives for high‑runner designs
• Ability to leverage best practices and proven designs across regions and customer segments
• Proficiency in CAD software for design review and validation
