Lead Structural Engineer 2 – Nuclear

Sargent & Lundy is hiring a Lead Structural Engineer 2 – Nuclear to join our Nuclear Power Group. The role is a hybrid position: three days a week in the office and two days remote.

Job Overview

As a Lead Design Engineer you will guide a team of structural engineers and manage projects for the design of new nuclear facilities, upgrades, and modifications to existing nuclear power plants. The position calls for leadership, deep technical knowledge of structural design, and strong client interaction.

Responsibilities
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a structural engineering team on nuclear facility projects.
  • Interface with multi‑disciplinary engineers and directly with clients.
  • Prepare, review, and guide the structural analysis and design of steel frames, connections, concrete members, and foundations.
  • Travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews, site coordination, and field verification.
Qualifications
  • BSCE in Structural Engineering from an ABET‑accredited program.
  • 12+ years designing and analyzing industrial, heavy commercial, or nuclear facility structures.
  • Proficiency with structural analysis software such as STAAD, SAP
    2000, SAFE, STRUDL, or ANSYS.
  • Proficiency with design codes and standards such as ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • PE or SE license.
Valued, but not required
  • MSCE degree.
  • On‑site construction support experience.
