Architect / Engineer – Due Diligence
Property Solutions Inc. in the Chicago IL area seeks an Architect/Engineer for Building Due Diligence.
As an Architect/Engineer you will conduct forensic studies to identify and remedy physical deficiencies for existing buildings. For proposed projects, you will review construction drawings, costs, and perform cursory reviews of contracts and schedules. Additionally, you will conduct Construction Monitoring, gaining exposure to a wide variety of properties including multi‑family, mixed‑use, commercial, office, retail/shopping, hotel, and industrial/warehouse buildings.
This position is ideal for a senior or junior level Architect or Engineer who wishes to utilize their technical and forensic investigation skills in evaluating building systems and components.
Requirements- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or Engineering
- Expected to manage multiple projects concurrently and communicate status to clients and internal management
- Ability to conduct field visits, including use of roof ladders, attics, and confined spaces
- Ability to travel 30%-50% of the time (including some overnight travel)
- Experience with reviewing or composing civil, structural, architectural, and MEP construction drawings
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook, and online platforms
- Perform investigative research of various properties and buildings
- Compose Property Condition Assessment reports, Construction Monitoring reports, and upfront Plan and Cost peer reviews for investors and lending institutions
- Conduct walk‑through surveys to assess the condition of building components and site improvements. Prepare cost estimates to remedy deficiencies
- Review construction plans, costs, contracts, and schedules
- Interview property owners, occupants, key site personnel, and local government officials to obtain information concerning the subject property
Salary: $75,000 – $95,000 per year.
