Iteris is looking for a Sr. Engineer that seeks to join a talented group of professionals to promote thriving communities by applying technology to solve complex issues in transportation. The ideal candidate will work, in partnership with Iteris Engineering staff, with state, regional, and local agencies to deliver various transportation engineering and planning projects to improve our communities. The candidate is expected to perform and lead transportation or traffic engineering work primarily in traffic signal systems management, operations, signal coordination and timing studies, ITS/Traffic Signal Design under the supervision and guidance of senior management and principal engineering staff.

• Responsible for managing and working on transportation engineering or planning projects including fieldwork, design, analysis, preparation of presentations, graphics and other support tasks as needed.
• Lead the analysis, assessment, and interpretation of data, conditions, and systems to plan and execute traffic signal retiming improvements and prepare Traffic Signal/ITS plans.
• Perform and lead transportation, traffic, or systems engineering work in the development of traffic signal timing, signal systems management, and operations Systems engineering analysis and reports under the direction of senior management/principal engineering staff.
• Develop, assist, or lead the preparation of Traffic Signal/ITS plans.
• Perform and lead data analysis to support development and implementation strategies for improving arterial traffic flow and safety, and evaluating system performance.
• Conduct and lead traffic engineering studies, traffic impact analyses, traffic operation and safety studies.
• Collect traffic signal/ITS equipment inventory.
• Position may require frequent local travel.

• Bachelor's Degree (four‑year college or technical school) or Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or Transportation Planning.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in any state is required.
• Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) license preferred.
• IMSA Traffic Signal Field Technician Level II (or willingness to obtain; we provide financial assistance).
• Minimum ten (10) years of experience in transportation engineering principles including signal timing studies/ITS design.
• Experience with traffic signal design and signal optimization and simulation software, including but not limited to Microstation, Synchro, Sim Traffic, ATSPM and other traffic analysis software.
• Solid written and verbal communication skills.
• A passion for data analysis, attention to detail, and real‑time traffic operations improvements to enhance safety and the traveling experience of the motoring public and pedestrians.

Iteris anticipates paying a base salary between $121,800 and $135,600 for this role. Actual pay offered may be below or above these amounts, depending on the individual’s job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience.
