Instrumentation & Controls Engineer 1 (Entry‑Level) - Nuclear
OverviewJoin Sargent & Lundy’s Nuclear Power Group to digitize nuclear power plants. This entry‑level role builds your engineering background while working on multi‑disciplinary instrumentation and controls projects.
Responsibilities- Collaborate with a multi‑disciplinary engineering team on nuclear power plant instrumentation and controls projects.
- Work with electronic process sensors, digital controllers, network topology, touchscreen displays, pumps, valves, heat exchangers, steam turbines and reactors.
- Prepare specifications for procurement of instrumentation and control equipment and perform engineering calculations.
- Increase knowledge and skills through mentoring, classroom‑style technical sessions and on‑the‑job training.
- Travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and to plant site locations for project coordination and field verification of designs.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s of Science in Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical with coursework in analog and digital control systems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with MS Office applications.
- ABET Engineering Accreditation Commission‑approved program.
- Completion of mechatronics coursework.
- Prior related internship or co‑op experience.
- FE exam successful completion and designation as an Engineer in Training.
