Base pay range: $65,000.00/yr - $90,000.00/yr

BR+A is seeking a Plumbing and Fire Protection Designer for our Chicago, IL office. The ideal candidate will be proficient in Revit and AutoCAD, be strongly motivated, well‑organized, and show professional initiative. The ability to take ownership of assignments and perform well both independently and as part of the project team is necessary.

• Experience in specification writing
• Perform field verification and take‑offs existing systems for renovation projects
• Coordinate with other disciplines
• Thorough knowledge of Chicago Plumbing code, NFPA, and other codes as they relate to design of Plumbing and Fire Protection systems
• Ability to design domestic water systems and sanitary, waste, and vent systems
• Develop calculations for Plumbing/FP system sizing
• Understand work planning and manage the design process to the available hours in the work plan
• Meet and work with contractors
• Oversee deliverables to and from clients
• Takes ownership of assignments

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Technology
• 0-2 years of relevant experience in designing Plumbing and Fire Protection for Healthcare, Higher Education, and Laboratory projects
