The compensation range for this full-time position applies to candidates located within the United States and includes base pay and short-term incentive. Schneider Electric has a meaningful opportunity for an Application Design Engineer - General Automation/Motion
. This role is at the forefront of application software development and integration in industrial applications. The Application Design Engineer reviews, develops, presents, and supports control system development for Schneider Electric OEM customers, focusing on the application and integration of Eco Struxure Machine and Industrial Automation Business software.

The ADE team performs the following:

• Integration of multi-product software environments using off-the-shelf and custom-developed software.
• Consultation on the application of Machine software packages and Schneider Electric automation and control solutions.
• Work as part of a multi-functional team supporting customers with development, implementation, and integration of Schneider OEM automation and control solutions.
• Developing and presenting technical solutions and delivering customized training to customers.
• Leading specification, design, analysis, and development of customer engineering projects within defined scope.
• Testing and development of proofs of concept for industrial automation software with SE products based on customer opportunities.
• Developing technical documentation, including bill of materials, User Requirements Specifications, Detailed Design Specifications, Factory Acceptance Tests.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Automation Engineering, Mechatronics or similar.
• 3+ years’ experience in developing machine code with IEC 61131-3 Structured Text and Ladder Logic.
• 3+ years’ experience with developing industrial automation systems architectures for a wide range of OEM applications.
• Applied knowledge of servo motion applications, including tuning, sizing, and programming.
• Proven problem-solving skills with troubleshooting industrial automation systems, including customer sites.
• Applied knowledge and troubleshooting experience of industrial networks and communication protocols (Modbus TCP/IP, Ethernet/IP, Sercos
  
  III, SQL, SNMP, VPN, remote connectivity, etc.).
• 3+ years’ experience in developing HMI graphics and code for industrial automation systems.
• Strong communication skills to manage and communicate status and feedback to stakeholders in customer projects.
• Self-starter with ability to work independently and as part of a large team.
• Experience presenting technical automation topics to customers and internal stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in installation of panel terminations based on submittals and in suggesting system improvements.
• Experience with third-party commissioning agents and communicating deficiencies to the project team.
• Experience in complex motion systems involving multi-axis synchronization.
• Experience with project management methodologies in scheduling and task startup.
• Experience with high-level programming languages (e.g., C#, Python, object-oriented concepts).
• Experience with safety architectures for machines.
• Experience in specific segments such as packaging, material handling, or material working.

Travel Requirements

Approximately 30% travel required (domestic and/or international). Travel to customer sites is required for project kickoff meetings and commissioning. Additional travel may be required to support OEM sales, trade shows, and segment-specific training.
