Join Our Flash Team as a Field Tech!
The Field Technician will provide regional on-site support for FLASH customers who are local to a specific area. With the support of the FLASH Support Services team, the Field Technician will be responsible for:
This will be a great role for you if you are someone who puts the customer’s needs first, likes to check things off your list, you are an over-communicator, have great customer service skills, a strong focus, extreme attention to detail, and are skilled in PARCS and troubleshooting.
Location: Chicago, IL
Travel:- Travel in Chicago, IL and surrounding areas up to 50%
- Be available to travel on short notice, such as same day, will be required.
- Be available for a monthly on-call schedule (from 4 pm to 8 am Monday through Friday and 24 hours on Saturday and Sunday) with a two-hour response time.
- Be available during the on-call period where the technician might be required to spend time (4-5 hours) at specific sites.
- Be available for major special events in the area which the client may request a technician to be at the site during the event.
- The Field Technician may be assigned a company vehicle if their role requires it. When the company provides vehicles for field technicians, they are to drive for company-designated business only. The Fleet Vehicle SOP covers the policies for driving a company vehicle as well as for employees who wish to use their personal vehicle for company-designated business and reimbursement for costs associated with this business use.
You'll Do:
- Manage installations with guidance of the Project Manager - leveraging internal and partner relationships to fully understand the scope and nature of each assigned project as per the project manager.
- Commission and test all aspects and functionality of Flash equipment at the completion of installation.
- Service, troubleshoot, and resolve issues.
- Exhibit strong professional business ethics, including: building and maintaining constructive working relationships, implementing proactive and concise communication,
- Acting as a resource to colleagues, and engaging in collaborative thinking and problem solving while demonstrating Flash Parking’s core values.
- Ensure all hardware, systems, and equipment are tested and working properly before leaving clients' locations.
- Be familiar with various gate manufacturers and model/types in order to successfully program multiple variations per project nature and scope
- Comfortable using hand tools and a multimeter.
- Developing an understanding of Flash Parking software solutions, capabilities, and installations, including a solid understanding of Flash Parking hardware and associated troubleshooting techniques.
- The ability to quickly learn and understand new hardware/electronic components.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language in a business environment.
- Ability to work autonomously in an uncontrolled environment (parking garage).
- Experience with troubleshooting methodologies & quality testing.
- General experience with low and high voltage wiring or commercial electrical knowledge.
- Experience communicating with colleagues and customers in a technical support environment.
- General knowledge of LAN/WAN networks and associated components.
- A valid U.S. Driver’s License.
• Bachelor’s Degree, Associate's Degree or a Technical School Certification in a related field (or equivalent education, plus customer support, project coordination, or account management experience) is preferred. - Ability to use a personal computer and proficiency with other Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
