Senior Recruitment Consultant - Renewable Energy | Operations | Maintenance | Asset Management
The Lead Solar Technician is responsible for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation and maintenance of utility‑scale solar photovoltaic sites. This role combines hands‑on technical expertise with day‑to‑day supervision of a small team of solar technicians, ensuring optimal plant performance, regulatory compliance, and high safety standards.
Site Operations & Maintenance- Lead daily operations and maintenance activities across utility‑scale solar sites.
- Perform and oversee preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance on PV modules, inverters, combiner boxes, trackers, DC/AC cabling, and related balance‑of‑system components.
- Troubleshoot and resolve electrical, mechanical, and SCADA‑related issues to minimize downtime and maximize energy production.
- Monitor plant performance metrics, identify underperformance, and implement corrective actions.
- Supervise, mentor, and coordinate a small team of solar technicians across both sites.
- Assign daily tasks, manage work priorities, and ensure adequate site coverage.
- Provide on‑the‑job training and technical guidance to develop technician capabilities.
- Enforce company policies, safety procedures, and quality standards.
- Act as the on‑site safety leader, promoting a strong safety culture and ensuring adherence to OSHA, NEC, and company safety requirements.
- Conduct job safety analyses, toolbox talks, and incident reporting as required.
- Ensure compliance with environmental, regulatory, and contractual obligations.
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs, work orders, and inspection records using a CMMS.
- Coordinate with site management, engineering, asset management, and external vendors as needed.
- Support audits, inspections, and performance reviews.
- 5+ years of hands‑on experience in solar PV operations and maintenance, with at least 2 years in a lead or supervisory role.
- Experience working on utility‑scale solar facilities (10 MW+).
- Strong electrical troubleshooting skills (DC and AC systems).
- Ability to lead and manage a small technical team across multiple sites.
- Working knowledge of NEC, OSHA regulations, and utility‑scale safety practices.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between sites.
Base pay range: $40.00/hr – $55.00/hr
Samuel Knight Energy & Infrastructure provided pay range.
