The Art School, within the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences at DePaul University, invites expressions of interest in part‑time faculty teaching for Spring 2024. Part‑time teaching opportunities fluctuate from quarter to quarter throughout the academic year. Applicants with expertise that match the course scheduling needs will be contacted for an interview. The School will work with selected individuals to determine their schedule.
Courses are not guaranteed; however, the School does its best to give ample notice about available classes or potential course cancellations. - A cover letter indicating teaching experience and interests.
- A current CV, MFA in Art, or a related area.
- 2 years of teaching experience, such as an instructor of record position while in graduate school.
- Experience teaching at a university or liberal arts college preferred.
- Examples of artwork and student work (if available, e.g., a website).
- List of three professional references.
- Two examples of syllabi and corresponding student evaluations.
The applicant’s schedule must be flexible to accommodate quarterly course schedules (studio block meets for 2 hours and 45 minutes, twice a week, M/W, T/U/TH).
Sub‑Disciplines- Studio Art (Drawing, Painting, Printmaking, Sculpture, and Digital Imaging in Studio Art)
- Photography and Media Art (Photography, Digital Photography, Intermedia/Web Art, and Video Art)
- Graphic Art
Exceptions to standard rates may apply to courses with unique credit hours, supervision, labs, clinical/practicum courses, coaching, administrative tasks, and courses that are either over‑enrolled or under‑enrolled.
General Compensation/Benefits StatementDePaul University has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the qualifications, education, experience, and training of the selected candidate, the scope and responsibilities of the position, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information.
SalaryInformation
The anticipated hiring rate of this position is between $4,500 and $5,600 per course, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
