ABOUT THE POSITION

The Department of Surgery and Specialty Medicine at the Illinois College of Osteopathic Medicine (Illinois

COM) is seeking a dynamic and experienced physician educator and leader to serve as founding faculty in Radiology. This part-time (0.25 FTE) position is open to candidates at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Full Professor. Academic rank to be determined by The Chicago School & Illinois COM academic rank policy.

The ideal candidate will be a dedicated educator, accomplished clinician, and innovative leader with expertise in Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology. The successful candidate will oversee the development and delivery of the Radiology curriculum, support faculty recruitment and development, and foster a collaborative, student-focused environment that aligns with the mission and values of the Illinois

COM and The Chicago School.

The Section Chief will lead curriculum development and innovation, clinical partnerships, research initiatives, and community engagement to ensure the Illinois

COM’s program trains physicians to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care that integrates both physical and mental health.

The anticipated start date for this position is June 1, 2026.

COM , anticipated to open for its first class of students in summer 2026 with a Mission to train exceptional physicians to leverage the interconnection of physical and mental health to provide compassionate, patient-centered care of the highest quality.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES Leadership & Administration
  • Provide visionary leadership for Radiology within the Illinois

    COM.
  • Lead curriculum development and assessment for the Radiology clinical rotations.
  • Assist curriculum development and assessment in preclinical courses as needed.
  • Recruit, mentor, and develop faculty members within the department.
  • Maintain partnerships with hospitals, clinics, and community organizations to support clinical training and research opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with accreditation standards and institutional policies.
Teaching, Curriculum Development, & Student Success
  • Oversee the development and delivery of an innovative, interdisciplinary Radiology curriculum.
  • Teach medical students using evidence-based instructional methods, including case-based and small-group learning.
  • Support student coaching, mentoring and professional development in clinical and academic settings.
  • Collaborate with other faculty and clinical educators to integrate Radiology content across the curriculum.
Service
  • Represent the College in professional organizations and events.
  • Assist where needed with student recruitment and community outreach efforts.
  • Participate in college and University committees.
  • Support student and faculty participation in community outreach and service-learning programs.
  • Advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion in medical education.
  • Engage in clinical practice (strongly encouraged).
Research & Scholarly Activity
  • Promote a culture of research and scholarship.
  • Support faculty and student research.
  • Seek external funding opportunities and partnerships to enhance research initiatives.
  • Ensure ethical and regulatory compliance for research activities.
