Prospect high school is seeking a passionate and dedicated science teacher to join our dynamic team. We are committed to fostering a cooperative, supportive, and respectful environment where students thrive both academically and personally. We are looking for educators who are eager to collaborate, utilize student-centered teaching strategies, and actively participate in professional learning communities.

Our ideal candidate possesses a strong background in chemistry and a passion for inquiry-based science. We are looking for an educator who prioritizes laboratory safety and uses hands-on experiments to make complex concepts accessible to all students. You should be a collaborative team player, eager to work within a professional learning community to develop innovative, student-centered lessons that spark curiosity and scientific literacy.

Science teacher/chemistry - 0.6 fte

Specific qualifications:

* state of illinois professional educators license (pel) with a senior hs endorsement in science - biology .

* el endorsement preferred.

* must be willing to teach all levels of science, including skills and/or lep (limited english proficiency).

* must have outstanding training and/or experiences as an educator.

* must have a strong background in science (and if applicable, math) instruction and a standards driven curriculum. Training and experience in implementing the ngss and creating an ngss classroom experience is preferred.

* must be able and willing to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners.

* must work effectively within our professional learning team model, which means working with teams of teachers to develop creative instructional strategies and resources, based on best practices, which enable our students to exceed building, district, and state goals and standards.

* must be well-versed in a wide variety of assessment practices that maximize student learning (formative, summative, selected response, extended written response, performance based.)

* must use a variety of instructional methods & practices to meet individual student needs.

* must provide multiple and varied opportunities for students to achieve daily objectives.

* it is an expectation that the teacher will utilize research-based instructional strategies for increasing student achievement and strive to become a distinguished educator.

* establish and maintain a professional growth plan.

* possess and continue to develop technology skills that drive instruction.

* communicate with students and parents regarding student progress.

* coordinate and share instructional lessons with other team members.

* assist in implementation of school-wide improvement plan.

* perform other tasks assigned by building administration or designee.

* support building extracurricular activities as a coach or sponsor.
