Travel Educational Interpreter - Chicago, IL

A skilled Sign Language Interpreter is needed to provide essential communication support within a school setting in Chicago, IL. This role involves facilitating effective communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students, educators, and staff to ensure an accessible learning environment. The position may require travel between different school locations within the area.

Key Responsibilities:

• Interpret spoken language into sign language and vice versa during classrooms, meetings, and school events
• Facilitate clear communication between students, teachers, and school personnel
• Support students' educational goals by ensuring full access to instructional content
• Maintain confidentiality and professional standards at all times
• Travel as needed to various school sites within the Chicago area

Preferred Qualifications:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and knowledge of deaf culture
• Previous experience as a sign language interpreter in an educational setting
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to manage multiple assignments and adapt to different classroom environments
• Relevant certification or training in sign language interpreting is a plus
