Job Description

Revolution Workshop is a social enterprise that provides carpentry and woodworking workforce development for unemployed or underemployed people in partnership with area businesses. We deliver financial independence and careers through skills, hope, and resilience.

Description

Pay: $50,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year

Direct Reports: This position reports directly to the Career Growth Director.

Work Schedule: In-Person:
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday: 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM. Flexibility:
Occasional evening or weekend work may be required, with hours adjusted accordingly. Travel between RW sites is required.

Note:

Occasional remote days are possible, as approved by supervisor.

Position Summary

Revolution Workshop is looking for an individual with strong relationship skills, a commitment to client-centered decision making, and dependable follow-through. The Alumni Employment Coach will oversee the progression of alumni post-graduation, as they navigate placement, retention, and continuing education. The Alumni Employment Coach will play a key role in maintaining strong relationships with employers and with our clients, to ensure that our clients are attaining high-quality employment and are prepared for long, successful careers.

The ideal candidate has knowledge of the construction industry in Chicago and a strong base of strengths-based coaching. All RW staff are expected to uphold the values of the organization in the work they do.

Roles and Responsibilities

Coach Clients Through Their Construction Job Search

  • Prepare alumni for employment and retention in the construction industry, maintaining a job placement rate of at least 90% and retention rate of 70% after one year.
  • Assist alumni on improving soft skills such as resume writing, interviewing, wage negotiation, digital skills, etc.
  • Conduct one-on-one sessions with alumni to understand their career goals and coach them through the process of achieving career success.
  • Assist alumni on advanced training opportunities and furthering education in the field.
  • Coordinate job search and resume writing workshops for alumni.
  • Coordinate hands‑on, advanced training workshops and career exposure events for alumni.
  • Assist with alumni participating in Social Enterprise and off‑site project opportunities including, facilitating applications and interviews, collecting feedback on performance and sharing with teammates, and assisting alumni with finding permanent employment opportunities.
  • Present clients with job readiness expectations post‑graduation and provide deeper understanding of the state of the industry.
  • Motivate clients to take steps towards their own goals with a high sense of urgency.
  • Assist trainees with learning how to network with construction company partners.
  • Refer alumni to job openings and provide the Business Engagement team with prompt follow‑up regarding any open positions.

Ensure Data And Grant Compliance

  • Prepare key documents for the program related to each alumni’s employment goals, barriers, and skills.
