The Department of Geography and Resource Management at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) is seeking an exceptional candidate for the post of Research Assistant Professor in the area of wetland ecology and biogeochemistry. The appointee is expected to complement the existing strength of the Department, and conduct scholarly research in exploring the potential of coastal wetlands as a nature‑based climate solution.

• PhD degree in physical geography, environmental science, or a related field.
• Solid academic background in at least one of the following fields: biogeochemistry, ecology, soil science, and geospatial data analysis.
• Track record of publishing excellent research outputs in international top‑tier scientific journals.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Proven experience in field instrumentation (e.g. eddy covariance), laboratory analytical work, remote sensing analysis, and/or the use of advanced quantitative methods will be highly advantageous.

• Develop and participate in scholarly research projects independently and collaboratively with Professor Derrick Lai of the Department as well as other local and international researchers.
• Apply for external grants actively in the capacity of Principal Investigator or Project Coordinator.
• Publish peer‑reviewed papers in reputable journals.
• Contribute to teaching, student supervision and related administrative duties.

Appointment will normally be made on contract basis for up to three years commencing as soon as possible, renewable subject to performance, funding availability, and mutual agreement.
