Job Summary

Teachers and staff at High Jump will work in person at 1 of 3 campuses- University of Chicago Lab Schools (5835 South Kimbark Ave, Chicago, IL 60637)
- Latin School of Chicago (59 W North Blvd, Chicago, IL 60610)
- Francis W. Parker (330 W Webster Ave, Chicago, IL 60614)
- Summer session classes run Monday through Friday and are tentatively scheduled as follows:
- Dates: June 29
- July
31st (with the exception of July 3rd) - Time: 7:45am - 3:00pm.
- Professional Development: We require 2 days of in‑person professional development for all teachers and staff, please tentatively hold the following dates:
June 25-26th, 2026.- Additional training and staff meetings may be required and will be communicated during onboarding.
- Dates: June 29
Summer Session 2026 Teacher Pay
The teacher pay range for Summer Session 2026 is $25–$40 per hour, based on experience.
This is a part time, on‑site teacher role located in Chicago, IL. This is a teacher created course that focuses on the arts, movement, or STEAM. Teachers who teach an elective course will need to submit a proposal for their course idea to be approved by their Campus Manager.
As an Electives Teacher
, you will be responsible for creating lesson plans, providing education to middle school students, and effectively communicating with students, parents, and staff.
- Elective teachers will grade and track the progress of their students and keep an updated Google Classroom for students with assignments and feedback and inform parents about their progress.
- Teachers will communicate with Teaching Assistants about how they can engage in the classroom and with students.
- Teachers are responsible for maintaining a safe and respectful classroom environment in order to optimize student capabilities and develop their love of learning.
- Must be 18 years of age
- Associate's degree minimum; bachelor's degree preferred
- Teaching certification not required but preferred for content areas
- Experience working with students or in organizations that serve youth
