Overview

Schedule:
Full Time, Monday–Friday, 12:00pm–8:00pm. Starting Salary: $42,000. Supervised by:
Program Director and Executive Director.

Location:
In-Person. RCC was founded in 2016 to support Chicago’s Rohingya refugee community and serves families from Rohingya and other refugee/immigrant communities with language classes, employment support, youth programs, and access to social services.
Position Overview:
The Youth Program Coordinator will support refugee children and families in navigating educational systems and achieving academic success. The role includes assisting with school enrollment, coordinating Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for children, and overseeing after-school programs. The Coordinator will manage after-school staff and volunteers, develop social-emotional learning activities, and work with case managers to help families build self-sufficiency. The Coordinator will meet performance metrics including enrollment targets, volunteer engagement, and program impact goals, and will track/report on these metrics.
- Early Education & School Enrollment (Ages 0-5): assist refugee families with preschool enrollment and connect children to early intervention services for disabilities; coordinate IEPs for young children; organize family engagement activities (e.g., parent orientations and "Mommy and Me" support groups).
- School Enrollment & IEP Coordination (K-12): help refugee families enroll their children in K-12 schools; coordinate IEPs and encourage parental involvement in school activities and conferences; plan and implement a summer program for refugee children (academic enrichment, summer camp).
- After-School Program Management: oversee tutoring and academic support; develop academic enrichment and social-emotional learning activities; track student progress and ensure measurable outcomes.
- Volunteer Coordination & Outreach: recruit and manage volunteers from local universities and community organizations; conduct background checks; monitor engagement and retention.
- Collaboration with Case Managers: work with case managers to integrate educational goals into family self-sufficiency plans and connect families with additional resources.
- Meeting Program Metrics: track enrollment targets, volunteer hours, student attendance, and academic progress; assess and report on outcomes; contribute to quarterly and annual reports with data-driven insights.
- Reporting: monthly client reporting with accurate documentation in the database and case files.
Education
:
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Work, Child Development, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Experience
:
Experience working with refugee or immigrant populations, particularly in educational settings; familiarity with early intervention programs, school enrollment processes, and IEP coordination.
Skills & Abilities
:
Strong organizational skills; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work independently and collaboratively; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and basic data management tools;
English fluency required;
Rohingya/Burmese/Malay language proficiency is a plus.
