The Lumen Christi Institute (LCI) seeks a University Program Coordinator to join its growing team of young professionals and academics. The Institute’s mission is to make the Catholic intellectual tradition a vital part of the secular university and the broader culture. The Lumen Christi Institute was founded at the University of Chicago in 1997, inspired by a common vision articulated by Catholic scholars at the university.
The Institute engages the university community in dialogue about the Catholic intellectual tradition through lectures, conferences, seminars, and non‑credit courses offered by scholars from across the United States and beyond. LCI’s work has inspired the establishment of similar organizations across the country. In 2022 the Institute established the In Lumine Network, a consortium of Catholic institutes at non‑Catholic colleges and universities.
LCI’s programming also serves the wider Chicago community through in‑person events and has grown a national audience through its online programs.

CompensationLumen Christi Institute offers a competitive salary and benefits, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, short and long‑term disability insurance, and a 403(b) plan.
Position Responsibilities- Cultivate and steward university program audiences – cultivate and maintain relationships with event constituents and vendors, and encourage the development of communities of like interests and vocations among UofC students, including personal invitations to events.
- Offer stewardship to event attendees by connecting with them after the event to provide a tailored survey link, material related to the event, etc.
- Plan, coordinate, and execute campus programs – collaborate with organizational leadership in planning academic‑year programming, steward program development and articulation, maintain proper timelines, including the planning and coordination of speaker visits and editing relevant marketing and website materials, and execute or delegate the execution of the university program events, including related hospitality, relevant collateral, event set‑up and clean‑up, and oversight of student workers.
- Analyze events and keep records – facilitate the post‑event analysis within the team, follow up with relevant action items, archive pertinent event materials, and prepare quarterly budget and program reports.
- Miscellaneous responsibilities – assist when needed in the execution of office, campus, and downtown events, including related hospitality, event set‑up, and clean‑up.
- Required – Bachelor’s Degree.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and planning skills.
- 1–3 years of program planning experience.
- Adept at using MS Office.
- Preferred – Master’s degree.
- Experience working with a Catholic organization and in higher education.
- Experience in a small non‑profit organization or office.
- Experience with Adobe Suite, Canva, and Word Press.
