Chicago Transit Authority is the second largest transit system in the country! Our college internship program offers summer and year-long internships that provide students with valuable work experience, professional development, and mentorship. Students receive exposure to the discipline of the workplace and are guided by subject matter experts who assist them in acquiring the skills, knowledge, and experience needed to perform in today's technically demanding careers.
Interns at CTA work in a range of departments across the authority.
Our internships are project-based; therefore, the skills that we seek vary based on the needs of the projects during each term. All majors are welcome to apply, but please see education experience/requirements for specifics about what disciplines each internship project is seeking.
Internships are part-time (15 hours a week) during the school year and full-time (40 hours a week) during the summer.
In this role within the Training and Workforce Development department's Learning and Support unit, interns will:
- Shadow team members across all functions—including instruction, coaching, logistics coordination, relationship management, and learning technology systems.
- Support coordination and delivery of programs and workshops in virtual, in-person, and hybrid formats.
- Assist with conducting needs assessments, marketing, registration, pre and post evaluations, and co-facilitating content.
- Provide recommendations for enhanced delivery methods and incorporate current technologies to expand training reach.
- Participate in the full learning cycle, including the development of curriculum and materials, piloting new programs, analyzing participant feedback, and recommending ongoing program improvements.
- Assist with providing content updates for existing workshops.
- Perform research and analysis on best practices in training to support enhancement of existing programs.
- Create participant guides, presentations, and other learning materials.
Qualifications
Educational Experience/Requirements:
- Preferred Major(s):
Training and Development, Human Resources, Organizational Leadership, Organizational Psychology, Adult Learning, Education, or related field - Preferred Level of
Education:
College senior and above - Required enrollment status:
Full-time (as defined by your academic institution) in a degree program at an accredited college or university
- The demands associated with the normal office environment
- Must be able to comply with office policy to work on-site twice per week
- Light physical activity, including walking outdoors and climbing stairs
- Requires standing stationary for extending periods of time
- Transporting materials to different conference rooms or training locations
- Will be required to carry items such as handouts, manuals, training aids, and equipment
Skills and Abilities
:
- Strong Microsoft Office and computer skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Good analytical and critical thinking skills
- Proficient organizational skills with attention to detail
- Good project management skills
- Strong presentation skills.
- Ability to facilitate training virtually, in person, and hybrid.
- Advanced skills in Zoom video conferencing.
- Working knowledge of visual communication tools such as Piktochart, Canva, and Moovly.
- Ability to build rapport and maintain relationships with various levels of Authority personnel and outside government agencies and corporate organizations.
- Desired Skills (not required) are e-Learning Authoring Tools such as Adobe Captivate, Articulate 360, Camtasia, Raptivity, Knowledge of Adult Learning Principles.
Final salary will be determined in part by the qualifications of the selected candidate and may be higher or lower than target.
