About The OpportunityThe Instructional Assistant will collaborate daily with the Classroom Teacher to manage classroom operations, provide high‑quality instructional support, and foster strong relationships with students, families, staff, and the community.
What You’ll DoAs an Instructional Assistant, your critical tasks will include, but are not limited to:
Essential Job Functions- Working with the Classroom Teacher to plan classroom instruction
- Monitoring student behavior and academic achievement; assisting in establishing expectations for behavior in accordance with school‑wide and classroom discipline plans
- Effectively monitoring children outside of the classroom (e.g., recess, lunchroom) and while the teacher is occupied
- Intervening appropriately to prevent student disruption of the classroom’s educational process; interacting with students in a supportive manner reflecting reciprocal respect
- Planning and executing whole‑group and small‑group instruction using appropriate student assessments to inform differentiated instruction
- Assuming classroom responsibilities in the absence of the Classroom Teacher
- Have a Bachelor’s Degree or 60+ college credits
- Have a demonstrated record of living LEARN's Core Values
- Current participant in an Instructor Certification Program
- Bilingual in at least one additional language
- Possess 1+ year of classroom experience
- Track record of delivering gains in student academic achievement
Starting Salary: $32,000–$38,000+ (starting salary)

Teachers will work in a busy, active environment with multiple simultaneous activities. Majority of work will be performed in a general classroom or school setting. Additional duties may include participating in organization‑sponsored events such as field trips and professional development, potentially after school hours.
Physical requirements include frequent lifting and carrying of children and equipment, sitting on the floor or child‑sized furniture, operating standard office equipment, and frequent moderate walking indoors and outdoors. The role may involve standing, bending, reaching high and low, stooping, walking around the classroom, and kneeling for up to 60% of the day. The teacher must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 25 pounds for short periods.
