Duties And Responsibilities
  • Develops, enhances, and coordinates the Office of the Dean of Students (ODOS) program for Coordinated Assistance and Resource Education (“CARE”) Services, under which ODOS staff respond to situational and circumstantial challenges that pose a significant barrier to student retention and persistence.
  • Serve as a primary resource for working with students in need. This includes effectively managing a caseload to support students of concern who are experiencing challenges, providing them with support, resources and referrals (using the Maxient case-management system).
  • Provides coordination of basic needs resources to support students, including working with campus food pantries, homeless/housing needs, and emergency funding.
  • Develops and delivers trainings, programming, and communication pieces targeting campus partners (faculty, staff, and students) related to topics such as housing and food insecurity, negotiating challenging family dynamics, responsiveness to national, state, and local points of tension, etc.
  • Develops and maintains the professional expertise and support network necessary to ensure that ODOS staff are prepared to meet related challenges with best practices.
  • Enhances and maintains DOS / CARE website with engaging and relevant resources for students, faculty, and staff.
  • Develops, implements, assesses, and recommends appropriate intervention strategies to promote student success and persistence for students experiencing co-curricular or extra-curricular (non-academic) hardship or difficulty.
  • Builds collaborative relationships across all LUC campuses with units who contribute to direct and indirect student success initiatives.
  • Coordinates outreach and advocacy programs for specific populations by building relationships within the community to assist in student success and persistence.
  • Serves occasionally as ad hoc member of Behavioral Concerns Team, assisting with coordination of interventions for students of concern who also fall under CARE services.
  • Contributes to the development of training and education on CURA Network resources.
  • Collaborates and provides assistance with all CURA student concern reports when necessary in the areas including but not limited to behavioral, wellness, academic, and personal concerns.
  • Assists with Title IX/Gender-Based Violence/Equity case management by responding to reports and providing students with resources, options, and support, and serves occasionally as advisor/appeal board member for allegations of gender-based (Title IX) or other bias-motivated misconduct.
  • Serves in an on-call duty rotation within the Office of the Dean of Students.
  • Helps represent the Office of the Dean of Students and provide student support at student-led demonstrations, large-scale celebrations, and other related student-led gatherings.
  • Assists with ODOS assessment efforts with goal of enhancing and sustaining data collection and assessment practices.
  • Participates in all ODOS and Division of Student Development operations including regular meetings, programs and activities.
  • Serves on division- and university-wide committees, as needed.

Minimum Education And/or Work Experience

Master’s Degree in Higher Education and at least three- five years of relevant experience in a University or College setting.

Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in higher education or relevant field of study.
  • Demonstrated expertise in developing, coordinating, and organizing an array of student support outreach and services.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with key partners and stakeholders on campus.
  • Experience developing and/or delivering trainings in various student support areas.
  • Experience advising and working with students at the undergraduate and graduate/professional school level.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and respect the privacy of students and staff.
