Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A full‑time Special Education Teacher position is available within an elementary school setting in Chicago, IL, focused on providing specialized support for high school students with autism and complex needs. This contract role spans from as soon as possible through the end of the school year (EOSY), offering a dynamic opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of students requiring intensive educational services.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to students with autism and complex needs
- Deliver specialized instruction and support aligned with students unique learning goals
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including therapists and support staff, to ensure comprehensive care and academic progress
- Monitor and document student performance, adjusting teaching strategies as needed
- Foster an inclusive, supportive classroom environment that promotes student growth and engagement
Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education teaching certification
- Experience working with students on the autism spectrum, particularly those with complex educational and behavioral needs
- Ability to manage a high school caseload effectively
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with educators, families, and support personnel
- Commitment to individualized, student‑centered teaching approaches
