Job OverviewThe Floating School-Age Educator (Temporary November 1 2025 – August 28 2026) reports to the Assistant Director of School Age Programs. The role implements programs and provides direct service to children across Erie House’s three comprehensive School Age Program locations. It works 5 hours a day during school days and 8 hours a day during summer/school vacation/holidays, contingent upon funding supporting whichever location has the greatest need. This part‑time school year/full‑time summer position is in partnership with the Expanded Learning Programs department, directly impacting our student population of primarily Latinx and immigrant families.
The Floating School Age Educator’s primary responsibility is to interact, supervise, and provide a safe learning environment to the children we serve across our three locations. The educator must be adaptable, have excellent communication, and provide an environment in which children grow and learn. Experience working with children 5‑12 years old is highly preferred. The educator provides an overall environment that reflects our multi‑ethnic population, promotes enjoyment, relaxation, and socialization, and fosters recognition, acceptance, and positive interactions among children and staff.
The educator works with the Site Director in development, planning, and implementation of the School Age Program and actively participates with children ages 5‑12, facilitating enriching activities that promote academic achievement, social‑emotional development, and a sense of belonging.
- Preferred:
Bilingual Spanish / English - 45 credit hours of college courses with at least 6 hours in child development or related field, or 30 credit hours with 9 hours in child development/related field plus ...
- Ability to use Microsoft programs
- Ability to report to three different locations in Chicago with limited notice (1313 N. Claremont, 1701 W. Superior, 1347 W. Erie)
- Must be a member of AFSCME or join after 30 days
- Compensation: $17.75‑18.50 hourly
