JOB SUMMARY
Reporting to the Dean of Instruction, the Assistant Dean of Instruction assists in the management oversight of academic programs and related administrative operations within the Office of Instruction, working collaboratively with senior management to ensure effective and efficient academic operations in alignment with the college’s mission and goals.
Working in close collaboration with the Office of the Vice President, the Assistant Dean leads special projects and initiatives for the continuous improvement of academic programs and processes and faculty resources within the context of an increasing student enrollment and growing environment. Performs related duties as required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Assists the Dean and Associate Dean(s) in managing program and administrative operations including supporting the curriculum development process and assisting key staff with Illinois Community College Board (ICCB) curriculum reviews.
Leads and directs a strategic approach to the review of course offerings per semester to ensure students have access to courses needed to complete programs of study within an acceptable and specified time-frame.
Works collaboratively with department chairs, faculty, and administrators across disciplines to plan and prepare a master class schedule per semester that is supported with appropriate levels of faculty and program staff, and class space resources.
Coordinates with the District Director of Transfer Articulation Partnerships in working with four year institutions to develop and maintain Illinois Articulation Initiative (IAI) transfer agreements with the college.
Provides leadership in coordinating professional and personal development activities for faculty and staff through the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL). Works with key stakeholders in planning and providing informative, creative presentations.
Assists the Dean, Associate Deans, department chairs in preparing for scheduled accreditation reviews by various accrediting and licensing bodies including the Illinois Community College Board (ICCB).
Prepares and implements schedule for accreditation review, ensuring timely submissions of required program data, student learning assessments, and related data and reports by designated staff.
Assists in the evaluation of full-time and part-time faculty to ensure continuity of quality classroom instruction in both the credit and continuing education environment.
Advises faculty on requirements and process for compilation of documents and submission of portfolios as part of the tenure and post-tenure process, and the performance evaluation process.
Assists administrators in resolving problems, including, but not limited to, student or faculty complaints, and follows appropriate procedures for their resolution. Ensures adherence to the Academic and Student Policy Manual by all parties.
Monitors the quality and accuracy of information on the college’s website relating to academic programs, administrative processes and services of the Office of Instruction. Initiates efforts to update and improve the quality of content.
Monitors the college’s textbook adoption process, working with staff and faculty in addressing and resolving issues relating to selection, availability, cost-effectiveness, and delivery of texts.
Represents the college to community organizations and agencies and participates n district-wide committees.
Serves as weekend and/or evening administrator for the College.
