The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Science at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago are seeking a full-time non-tenure-eligible Clinician‑Educator at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor. This position is intended for a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist who will join the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences in a nationally ranked, freestanding children's hospital located on the medical school campus.

The successful applicant will bring their focused research expertise to the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health at Lurie Children’s Hospital to support the Department and the Hospital in meeting their strategic initiatives.

Responsibilities
  • Developing a self‑sustaining line of research in child and adolescent psychiatry
  • Teaching and mentoring in multidisciplinary child health and mental health training programs
  • Providing clinical care aligned with their clinical and research expertise; sharing in the on‑call coverage within the inpatient psychiatry program. Expected 50% research and 50% clinical, negotiable depending on grant activity and funding.
Qualifications
  • Focused research interest area with a demonstrated history of successful research activity and funding.
  • Experience and excellence in teaching and commitment to an academic medical center environment.
  • Crisis evaluation and treatment experience (ideally pediatric hospital‑based) and board certification or eligibility in child and adolescent psychiatry.
  • MD or MD/PhD required.
  • Fluency in Spanish would be a plus.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States and licensure in Illinois. Licensure in Illinois and Lurie Children’s medical staff membership required before starting work.

Rank and salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. This is a full‑time position.

Pay Range

Expected base pay range: $262,000 – $340,588. Northwestern University has provided a pay range representing its good‑faith estimate. The final offer will be based on experience, qualifications, budget availability, internal comparators, and external market pay for comparable jobs.
