, located in downtown Chicago, invites applications for the position of Division Chief of Pediatric Pulmonology.
This is a unique opportunity to build a pediatric pulmonology program at a leading academic medical center. We are seeking an entrepreneurial leader who is excited to establish and grow a comprehensive clinical and academic program in an established academic medical center. The Division Chief will build upon existing strengths, including a dedicated Pulmonary Nurse Practitioner and a robust Cystic Fibrosis program, to create a comprehensive pulmonology service.
Working closely with the Department Chairperson, the Division Chief will develop an energetic and inventive vision for expanding clinical services, educational programs, and research initiatives, while developing strategic interdisciplinary teams and fostering faculty development.
The successful candidate will:
- Build and lead a new Pulmonology Division within the Department of Pediatrics, with responsibility for establishing clinical programs, workflows, and infrastructure from inception
- Provide strategic, innovative, and operational leadership with an entrepreneurial mindset suited to program development in an academic setting
- Maintain a 75% clinical effort while dedicating 25% to divisional leadership and academic responsibilities Recruit and mentor faculty, beginning with one additional pediatric pulmonologist, with plans for continued growth
- Be responsible and accountable for clinical and academic performance as the division matures
- Demonstrate a strong record of collaborative leadership and commitment to excellence in clinical care, research, innovation, and academic service
- Be comfortable with the challenges and opportunities of building programs from scratch within a supportive academic environment
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) required
- Eligible to be licensed to practice Medicine in the state of Illinois required
- Completion of an accredited Pediatric Pulmonology fellowship program
- Board Certified in Pediatric Pulmonology
- Hold credentials meriting an Associate Professor or Professor faculty appointment
- Demonstrate ongoing research achievement, community engagement, and educational excellence
The Rush University Children's Hospital (RUCH
) is part of the Rush University Medical Center (RUMC). It is an academic medical center that has 110 pediatric beds. RUMC is a 671-bed hospital serving adults and children in downtown Chicago, Illinois. It includes the 58- adult bed Johnston R. Bowman Health Center, Rush University and Rush Health. Rush University is home to one of the first medical colleges in the Midwest and one of the nations top-ranked nursing colleges, as well as graduate programs in allied health, health systems management and biomedical research.
The Medical Center also offers more than 70 highly selective residency and fellowship programs in medical and surgical specialties and subspecialties. It has excellent residents. The Categorical Pediatrics and Medicine/Pediatrics residency programs have had a 99% pass rate on the General Pediatrics Certifying Examination offered by the American Board of Pediatrics in the past 4 years.
