Position Summary: Clinically-oriented hepatologist at the level of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor (rank/tenure commensurate with qualifications) to grow our liver center and transplant program. An MD (or equivalent) and experience in clinical hepatology is required. Experience in transplant hepatology or a separate fellowship is considered a major plus. Management of end‑stage liver disease, viral hepatitis, and liver cancer constitutes a major part of inpatient and outpatient practice.

UIC is a large liver transplant center and is expanding outreach; travel to Hepatology Outreach Clinic sites is included. Academic productivity is expected; candidates with an interest in scholarly activity are encouraged.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Grow the liver center and transplant program as a clinically-oriented hepatologist.
  • Utilize experience in transplant hepatology or separate fellowship (major plus).
  • Manage end‑stage liver disease, viral hepatitis, and liver cancer in inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Participate in outreach clinics; travel to Outreach Clinic sites as required.
  • Perform additional related duties and special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • MD degree (or equivalent) and experience in clinical hepatology.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MD or DO degree with board certification or eligibility in gastroenterology.
