Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) - Chicago, IL
Role at Smile Programs, a mobile in‑school dental program. The workday ends with the school day and there are no nights or weekends, making it ideal for parents and anyone seeking a unique, flexible work environment.
Qualifications- Active RDH License
- Professional experience as a Dental Hygienist
- CPR or BLS certification
- Excellent working relationship with children
- Ability to thrive in a small, fast‑paced team
- Organized, detail‑oriented, and able to multi‑task
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation; willing to travel within the county
- Ability to lift and carry equipment up to 50 lbs for set‑up and take‑down
- Ability to walk up flights of stairs on certain occasions (some schools may not have an elevator)
- Assist with oral health management of all patients as a team player
- Verify patient identity using name and date of birth before treatment; document verification in the chart
- Obtain oral health assessments for new and follow‑up patients
- Review medical history and other pertinent oral health information
- Provide oral hygiene services, including prophylaxis, scaling, sealant application, and fluoride application in accordance with best practices
- Assist dentist as directed
- Provide oral health education and individual counseling to each patient
- Document all services on the patient’s chart
- Travel daily to and from school sites
- Drive company vehicle
- Willing to travel daily
- Meet deadlines and arrive on time each day
- Reliable, organized, and punctual
- Microsoft Office skills
- Excellent people skills—able to communicate with adults and children
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Order supplies, sterilize instruments, and perform sterility testing
- Back‑office duties
- Maintain van and equipment in good condition
- Evenings, weekends, and summer off
- School day schedule (about 6–7 hours; 8:00 AM–3:00 PM)
