Job Description & How to Apply Below

Envisionit, an award-winning digital marketing agency based in Chicago, is looking for a curious and clever writer to join our creative team this summer. As our Copywriting Intern
, you'll learn the ins and outs of bringing creative digital campaigns and digital experiences to life—from early creative concepts to production. You'll partner with teams across the agency to elevate our brand, content, and collateral, fine‑tuning your writing skills while working alongside creative marketing pros.

This is a paid, part‑time position (average 18‑20 hours per week). We are prioritizing local candidates at this time, as the intern will work onsite 1‑2 times per week. The timeframe for the internships is early June through early August, but we will work with the candidate to align on the specific dates.

Here’s a sneak peek of what you could be doing on a typical day:
  • Brainstorming: Participate in or lead brainstorming sessions for concepting or campaigns, and contribute to the development of creative work.
  • Drafting Copy: Translate creative direction and messaging points from creative briefs into engaging and effective concepts and copy. Collaborate with internal teams to create copy for social media, landing pages, motion and video ads, educational or marketing blog copy, and websites for clients and ENV marketing while adhering to brand guidelines.
  • Creative Editing: Create copy decks, including editing and formatting, with the support of the creative team.
  • Copy Editing: Serve as Quality Control by providing vital editing or proofreading support for all client‑facing materials.
  • Content Strategy: Experience developing editorial content and calendars, including planning across platforms and channels.
  • Presenting Work: Sit in on client presentations, gaining an inside look at one of the most critical parts of the job—presenting work and communicating ideas to clients. If desired, there will be opportunities to present your work.
  • Intellectual Development: Work with a mentor to ideate and write solutions that meet or exceed strategic objectives, and be regarded as an internal SME researching and sharing industry knowledge and expertise.
What you’ll take away from the experience:
  • Real‑world exposure to digital marketing/agency life, including receiving feedback from creatives and clients.
  • Work samples across a variety of formats, verticals, and audience types to build your portfolio.
  • Ownership of at least one capstone project from conception through completion.
  • Insight, experience, and confidence in communicating creative ideas to peers and the leadership team.
  • Experience of the creative concept and overall production process from inception to production.
  • Portfolio/resume critique (if interested).
  • A well‑rounded toolkit of stronger writing skills, having worked alongside interactive designers, motion designers, copywriters, content strategists, and creative directors.
Is this you?
  • Strong interest in technology, tourism, innovation, and AI.
  • Strong interviewing and communication skills.
  • A background in writing for a variety of mediums and channels.
  • Working knowledge of Google Workspace.
  • Proven aptitude for quick, creative thinking, strong knowledge of storytelling principles, and meticulous attention to detail regardless of medium.
  • Organized but flexible, able to pick up new concepts quickly and work with a team and independently.
  • Ready, eager, and able to roll up your sleeves—and not afraid to ask A LOT of questions.
  • Experience (preferred over education) within copywriting, storytelling, journalism, marketing, or advertising fields.
  • Writing samples/creative portfolio required for consideration. Please either include your portfolio URL in your resume, or upload it with your resume as a single PDF.
