Weigel Productions creates original programming and content for Weigel’s television and digital outlets. Grown out of the long‑form productions including Toon In With Me, Svengoolie, Collector’s Call and My Start Story. The Weigel Productions team consists of producers, writers, editors, directors of photography, graphic artists, and researchers.
Summer InternWeigel Broadcasting in Chicago, IL, is offering an exciting internship opportunity for creative college students to gain experience with producing daily television and hands‑on responsibilities. All interns will receive an hourly rate of pay;
Weigel Broadcasting co. does not subsidize housing.
The Role
- Work alongside a dynamic production staff
- Gain hands‑on exposure to both studio and field production
- Take part in crafting stories for air from research to completion
- Review research for daily stories and long‑term projects
- Assist in coordinating and organizing assets for editors and graphic artists
- Support essential administrative tasks to aid in running our 1‑hour program on the air
- Watch and evaluate storyboard edits for editors
- Other duties, as assigned
- Availability to commit 20 hours per week to the internship
- Flexible schedule to meet the demands of a daily one‑hour television program
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program
- Highly organized and have a passion for history, pop culture, and news

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $16.60/hour. This role is also eligible for various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
