About Task Force Prevention and Community Services

Task Force Prevention and Community Services is a multi-service, grassroots organization committed to improving the sexual health and overall well‑being of LGBTQIA+ youth of Color in Chicago. We provide safe spaces for fellowship, HIV and STI screening and education, and on‑site referrals to medical, housing, and other social services.

Our communications work centers on community voice, equity, cultural humility, and authentic storytelling.

Position Overview

The Communications Coordinator is a creative, production‑focused role responsible for capturing and producing high‑quality visual and digital content that reflects the impact of our programs and community work.

This position supports communications efforts for both Task Force Prevention and Community Services and PrEP4

Teens, an HIV prevention initiative focused on youth‑centered sexual health education. PrEP4

Teens was previously co‑led by Task Force and Northwestern University and is now housed within Task Force.

The Communications Coordinator plays a key role in digital storytelling, social media management, and visual content creation, helping amplify youth voices and strengthen the digital presence of both initiatives.

This position is ideal for a visual storyteller who thrives in community‑based environments and enjoys balancing creative production with collaboration. The role emphasizes photography, videography, graphic design, and short‑form digital storytelling. Writing responsibilities are primarily limited to captions, short promotional copy, and supporting text.

A portfolio demonstrating visual storytelling and multimedia production is required.

What You Will Do Content Creation and Editing (Approximately 35–40%)
  • Capture and edit high‑quality photos and videos at programs, workshops, community events, and outreach activities.
  • Produce short‑form video content for platforms such as Instagram Reels, Tik Tok, and You Tube Shorts.
  • Create longer‑form recap or promotional video content highlighting program impact and community engagement.
  • Design flyers, digital graphics, and promotional materials for programs and communications campaigns.
  • Maintain a consistent visual identity aligned with Task Force and PrEP4

    Teens brand guidelines.
  • Organize and maintain digital libraries of photography, video, and communications assets.
Digital Presence, Social Media, and Youth Storytelling (Approximately 25–30%)
  • Co‑manage Task Force and PrEP4

    Teens social media platforms, including Instagram, Tik Tok, and web‑based content.
  • Plan, schedule, and publish digital content that centers youth voice and supports program objectives.
  • Collaborate with the PrEP4

    Teens Youth Leadership Committee to elevate youth perspectives, co‑create content ideas, and ensure digital storytelling reflects teen experiences and priorities.
  • Participate in meetings with internal teams and youth partners to align on creative vision, design standards, content guidelines, and collaboration practices.
  • Ensure all digital communications remain culturally relevant, visually engaging, and aligned with program messaging.
  • Track social media engagement and platform performance to inform content strategy.
Campaign Planning and Program Collaboration (Approximately 15–20%)
  • Collaborate with PrEP4

    Teens program staff to develop and implement communications campaigns.
  • Work with the Associate Director of Communications to translate program initiatives into compelling digital storytelling and campaign materials.
  • Support communications planning for outreach initiatives, program activations, and partnerships.
  • Coordinate creative assets and promotional materials for events, campaigns, and community engagement activities.
Event Coverage and Community Presence (Approximately 10–15%)
  • Attend and document programs and community events through photography and video.
  • Support the setup and breakdown of photo and video equipment during events.
