This is an initial 3 month contract.

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Proofreader responsible for reviewing transcripts to ensure accuracy, clarity, and consistency. This role focuses on identifying and correcting spelling, grammatical, punctuation, and typographical errors while maintaining high editorial standards.

The ideal candidate has strong language and writing proficiency, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with editors, authors, typists, and other proofreaders to ensure transcripts meet quality expectations.

• Review transcripts to identify and correct spelling, grammar, punctuation, and typographical errors
• Ensure accuracy, clarity, and consistency across documents
• Maintain formatting and editorial standards across transcripts

• Ensure transcripts meet quality standards prior to final delivery
• Identify inconsistencies or errors that may impact readability or accuracy
• Maintain strong attention to detail while reviewing high volumes of text

• Work closely with editors, authors, typists, and other proofreaders
• Communicate corrections and feedback clearly and effectively

• Strong proficiency in English grammar, spelling, and punctuation
• Exceptional attention to detail
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Experience reviewing or editing written content or transcripts
• Ability to work onsite in Chicago, IL one day per week
