Job Description

AECOM Hunt is actively seeking to add a Safety Manager to our large construction project at Chicago's O'Hare airport.

Job Duties
  • Under limited supervision, manages one or more ES&H functions within an ES&H department or group within a subsidiary.
  • May manage the environmental safety and health function(s) on a large project.
  • Is fully competent in most aspects of the job.
  • Work is complex and requires independent evaluation, selection, adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures and criteria.
  • Uses independent judgment and provides solutions to a wide range of difficult problems.
  • Work is reviewed upon completion for adequacy in meeting objectives.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements
  • BA/BS Occupational Safety or related curriculum and 8 years of construction site safety experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Valid US drivers license.
Preferred Requirements
  • 8 years of experience as a construction site safety professional.
  • Aviation/airport construction safety experience strongly preferred.
  • OSHA 30-Hour
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
  • Experience with Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) and Activity Hazard Analysis (AHA) documents.
  • OCIP/CSIP experience.
  • Experience in safety protocol implementation, audit and reporting on a large construction site.
  • Proficiency in construction site PPE, PPE training, reporting and safety orientation.
Physical Demands
  • The following physical demands represent those typically required of individuals working in construction field roles, with or without accommodation. Construction field positions require physical stamina and mobility, including the ability to climb ladders and stairs, use personnel hoists, and move through various terrain and active construction zones. Vision requirements include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

    Team members must be capable of using their hands to handle tools and materials, and perform activities such as sitting, standing, walking, speaking, hearing, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling. Lifting and carrying materials weighing up to 50 pounds unassisted may be necessary on an occasional basis.
Work Environment
  • Individuals in construction field roles work primarily on active job sites where exposure to environmental and job-related hazards is common, with or without accommodation. These environments may include proximity to heavy machinery, elevated work areas, airborne particles, varying weather conditions, and potential electrical risks.
