Job Title:

Safety Manager

We are seeking an experienced Safety Manager to oversee the safety operations on a dynamic construction project site. The ideal candidate will be responsible for implementing and ensuring compliance with project-specific and client safety guidelines. This role offers the opportunity to work with a recognized team that values safety, innovation, and quality.

Responsibilities
  • Implement and enforce the project's safety guidelines, site-specific safety plan, and client-specific safety requirements.
  • Coordinate with the regional safety lead to ensure the availability of necessary safety signage and personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Confirm that all personnel scheduled to work on-site have completed the required safety orientation training.
  • Gather and organize documentation from subcontractors and trade partners, including Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Safety Data Sheets (SDS), High-Risk Activity Plans, and Heat Illness Prevention Plans.
  • Conduct daily safety audits using the designated digital platform and share findings with the project team.
  • Submit a minimum of two Safety Observation Reports (SORs) per week.
  • Engage with crews and monitor safety practices, spending 60-70% of time in the field.
  • Attend and contribute to daily huddles, coordination meetings, foremen’s meetings, and preconstruction meetings.
  • Lead or support weekly all‑hands safety meetings.
  • Review and track safety documentation, including Daily Action Plans (DAPs) and project‑specific safety documentation.
  • Notify the project team and regional safety lead of any incidents or near‑misses, and assist in incident investigations.
  • Conduct site‑specific safety orientations for all trade partners and maintain communication with subcontractor safety representatives.
Essential Skills
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in construction safety and 3 years of management experience.
  • Professional certification such as CSP, ASP, CHT, and current 30‑hour OSHA Certificate or higher.
  • Experience in construction safety, particularly with data center projects or commercial building construction.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Reliability and the ability to support the project schedule.

  • Experience supporting data center construction projects is highly preferred.
  • Ability to work with a team and maintain clear communication with project teams and safety leadership.
  • Flexibility to accommodate project schedule needs and extended hours as required.
  • Ability to work effectively on sites that require NDA compliance.
Work Environment

The position requires being onsite every day in Elk Grove, IL, with a schedule aligning with the project’s jobsite hours, typically starting at 5:00 or 6:00 AM. The candidate must remain on‑site during active construction hours and be flexible for extended hours if project needs require it. The role involves working in a small footprint/tight site data center project, with 70% of the time spent in the field and 30% in the office.

The team consists of 4-5 safety individuals, and the office is located in a warehouse down the road from the job site.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $75.00/hr.
