Site Safety and Health Officer

Overview

Site Safety and Health Officer contract opportunity with an energy savings construction client located at the Jesse Brown VA Medical Center near downtown Chicago, IL. Reporting to the Project Manager, this position will be responsible for all relevant onsite construction safety supervision activities at the Central Utility Plant.

Salary: $50 - $60 per hour

Work hours:

8am to 4pm

Education:

No Degree Required

• Conduct daily safety and health inspections and maintain a written log
• Collaborate with contractor and subcontractor health and safety personnel to correct unsafe conditions or acts immediately
• Conduct mishap investigations and complete required reports
• Maintain the OSHA Form 300 and Daily Production reports for prime and sub-contractors
• Maintain the safety and health deficiency tracking system that monitors outstanding deficiencies until resolution
• Inform the Project Manager of any identified hazardous conditions or unsafe acts
• Other duties as typical and assigned

• Approximately 5 or more years of relevant construction safety supervision experience
• 30-hour OSHA Construction Safety class completion
• Experience with electrical, mechanical and civil construction is preferred
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required
• Proficient computer skills including basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
